The good "PIECE OF NATURAL SOAP"
is stirred by hand in the traditional soap boiling method at a medium temperature. Saponification takes place through self-heating (esodermic reaction). Pure natural fats and oils are stirred together in a molten state with potassium hydroxide solution and caustic soda. The saponification process produces natural glycerine, which remains completely dissolved in the natural soap. The natural soap has a high proportion of neutral fat. It is neutral when dry. The natural soap is poured or pressed into the respective molds.

Characteristics: A member of the valerian family (Valerianaceae), up to 60 cm tall, deep green plant with oval, opposite leaves. Lower leaves with short stalks, upper leaves stalkless, narrowed into the stem. The small, funnel-shaped, pink to white flowers have a characteristic valerian scent and are borne in a terminal umbel. Habitat: Quite common in screes, on scree and in cirque meadows. Always on calcareous soil in the butterbur slopes and in mountain pine stands. From 650 to 2800 meters. Distribution: The rock valerian occurs in two varieties. One race in the Western Alps, Pyrenees, Corsica, Apannin and the Balkans; the other race colonizes the Eastern Alps, the Jura and the Carpathians. A relative of the rock valerian (from the same genus) is the true speik, Valeriana Celtica, which grows on deep, lime-free alpine meadows, the so-called speik soils. Medicinal use: Its strongly aromatic rhizome was already highly valued in ancient times by the Romans and Greeks as a fragrant and incense plant. Up to the present day, it has been used as a fragrance for soap (spittoon) but is now a protected plant. Another famous medicinal plant is true valerian, whose rhizome is used as a tea for nervous disorders, insomnia, mental overwork and nervous intestinal colic. The characteristic calming effect is caused by the ingredient isovaleric acid, and it also contains tannic acid, malic, formic and acetic acid, gum, mucilage, sugar, resin and starch. Mountain valerian is used by the inhabitants of the Alps in the same way as the official real valerian.
